Catherine Milstead, LCSW-C

Mental Health Therapist

Catherine received her degree in Social Work with a clinical concentration in 1994 from the University of Maryland. Her passion for helping others to realize their dreams and overcome the obstacles caused by trauma, anxiety, grief, poor self-image, addictions and a myriad of other difficulties has led her to learn how closely associated emotional anguish can be with physical pain. In a warm and loving environment, Catherine guides her clients one step at a time toward reaching their goals. She implements a variety of different treatment strategies. Catherine is uniquely trained in Somatic Experiencing and in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). She also utilizes a variety of other approaches when indicated including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Narrative Therapy. The modalities she utilizes help clients to gently reprocess trauma as needed and to gain insight and positive perspective on their past so that wholeness and happiness can be achieved, no matter the trauma and negative experiences that have occurred. Catherine loves to integrate the Christian faith into therapy if the client desires.

Catherine has experience in clinical social work, community mental health, as well as education. She treats adults, teens (17+), couples and families via in-person or telehealth visits.

In her spare time, Catherine enjoys reading and going for walks. She enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her favorite pastimes are spending quiet time with the Lord, who guides her practice and animates her heart, and coffee dates with friends in cute cafes.
